Plan your visit: practical questions answered

We made Sparsh Darshan on arrival, stayed nearby and returned early the next morning for Rudrabhishek. Separating the two visits avoided fitting everything into our arrival day.

Where it fitted
First stop from Mumbai, with Malshej Ghat on the road journey.
Our base
Aranyakulam Resort near Bhimashankar, name as remembered.
Morning departure
We woke around 04:00 and left the resort around 05:15 on 4 October.
Parking and walking
MRMC parking added roughly 200 metres to our walk when we could not reach Parking 1.

Can I do Bhimashankar darshan and Rudrabhishek on the same visit?

We chose two visits: Sparsh Darshan on 3 October and Rudrabhishek on 4 October. A local guide helped us understand the options and priest arrangements. Our experience does not establish whether your preferred ritual can be arranged on arrival; confirm that before setting a tight departure time.

What matters when visiting Bhimashankar with family?

The early wake-up and parking location affected our children more than expected. Allow for the walk from the parking actually available, wear suitable walking shoes and avoid planning your onward drive as though parking and entry are immediate. We did not measure the total queue or visit duration.

Where did we go after Bhimashankar?

After the morning Rudrabhishek we continued towards Trimbakeshwar and stayed in Nashik. Keeping the next morning’s Saptashrungi visit separate gave this temple pair its own road day.

Why we visited

Bhimashankar was the first Jyotirlinga temple of our Maharashtra circuit. We visited as a family of four twice, making Sparsh Darshan on the first day and returning for Rudrabhishek early the next morning.

From Mumbai and Malshej to an early start

First-hand journeyOur October 2026 experience

On 3 October we drove from Mumbai towards Bhimashankar, stopping around Malshej Ghat and the waterfalls. We visited Bhimashankar Temple that day and made Sparsh Darshan.

We then stayed nearby at Aranyakulam Resort (name as remembered). On 4 October we woke at approximately 04:00 and left around 05:15 to visit the temple a second time, this time for Rudrabhishek.

Our second visit: parking and the walk

First-hand journeyOur October 2026 experience

We could not reach Parking 1 and used MRMC parking between Parking 1 and Parking 2. That added roughly 200 metres of walking.

Local help and Rudrabhishek

First-hand journeyOur October 2026 experience

We contacted a local person / guide to help us understand the Abhishek process. Priest booking was handled inside or around the temple. There were several Abhishek options, and we performed Rudrabhishek.

That local help was part of how we navigated the process on our second visit. Our account does not establish a current booking route or a fixed ritual price.
