Our tour operator booked the helicopter through the official booking process available at the time (IRCTC HeliYatra). We reached Sirsi early; every passenger was weighed before boarding. Helicopter movements depend on that day’s operational sequence and weather.

We stayed at Frontier Stay, a few minutes’ walk from the temple. We visited Shri Bhairavnath Temple, where the weather turned from sunshine to rain within minutes, and saw Bhim Shila and the Adi Shankaracharya statue area.

We had evening darshan, then took part in a Laghu Rudrabhishek late at night and got back to the hotel at about 01:30. The next morning we flew back to Sirsi.

We went by helicopter from Sirsi helipad, near our base in the Sitapur area, and stayed one night at Kedarnath.

We did not walk the trek route, so we don’t write about it first-hand.

These were the conditions printed on our April 2026 ticket.

  • Passengers were weighed before boarding.
  • An excess-weight charge applied above 80 kg: ₹150 per kg over 80 kg, calculated for each passenger individually.
  • Only one piece of baggage was permitted, up to a maximum of 2 kg.
  • Children aged 2 years and above were charged the full fare and given their own seat.

What surprised us

  • How quickly the weather changed, from sunshine to rain during our Bhairavnath visit.
  • The cold: temperatures were below freezing during our stay.
  • How much wet socks and cold floors matter. It turned into a real comfort problem.
